We also have with us Dr Nicola Harker and Dr Emily Currie who are both fully qualified GPs. They are not, however partners at the practice.
The Practice Team
Practice Manager - responsible for the administration,
personnel and finance of the practice. We hope that you will feel able to approach her in the first instance
should you or your family have any concerns or complaints about the standard of service that you have received from
the doctors or staff at this practice.
Nurse Practitioner - trained in a range of chronic diseases & minor illness. She will sometimes deal with a problem which would more traditionally have been seen by a doctor.
Practice Nurses - run a range of health clinics and offer professional advice
by appointment only. Reception can advise you of the services available.
Health Care Assistants (HCAs) - aid the doctors and nurses by taking blood and offering smoking cessation clinics. This role will expand over time.
Medical Secretaries - handle all referrals (NHS and private) to consultants and requests from solicitors and insurance companies for records and medical reports. Any queries relating to any of the above should be directed to them.
Computer Clerks - handle medical audits and keep our patient database up to date.
Receptionists - are here to help you by making appointments and advising on administrative issues.
They have
been trained to ask questions in order to ascertain the urgency of your request.
Please be assured that any information you give them will always be treated in
confidence as they are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as doctors and
nurses. If they cannot answer a query they will undertake to find someone who
can.
WARNING - Owing to a shortage of robots some of our staff are human and may react unpredictably when abused, so we would ask for your patience if you are kept waiting.
Affiliated Staff
Community Nurses - give nursing care to those patients who are totally housebound and therefore unable to visit the surgery. They are based at Worle Health Centre and a message can be left for them on 01275 888801.
Smoking Counsellor - runs two clinics per week by appointment only.
Health Visitors - (Worle Health Centre) are available for advice during the day on 529164.
School Nurses - are based at Worle Health Centre and will endeavour to assist with any problems you may be having with regards to schooling in term time. Please contact them on 529524. In school holidays contact Locality Health Centre on 427440.
Midwifery Team - offer antenatal care on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Please phone the usual surgery number for an appointment. In case of emergency please contact Ashcombe Ward at Weston General Hospital on 647082.
Dietician - accessible only via GP referral.
Medical Students
We participate in the training of medical students from Bristol University. They come to us for short attachments throughout the year and we would be grateful if you would consider them part of our team. When you attend for your appointment you will be asked if you are agreeable to a medical student being present during your consultation.
